The Village of Skokie’s TeenLink program unites residents who are in a need of outside seasonal yard work with teens who are available for hire to do the work. The teens perform various outdoor tasks, such as mowing lawns, pulling weeds, raking leaves and snow shoveling.
How to participate
The Skokie Health and Human Services Department maintains a contact list of teens who are participants in the program. To obtain a copy of the TeenLink list, residents should call the Health and Human Services Department at 847-933-8208. The list can be provided via email or mail.
The resident contacts the TeenLink participant’s parent/guardian (if the participant is under 18 years old) or the participant directly (if 18+) to coordinate work and financial arrangements. The sole responsibility of the Village of Skokie is to provide the service to connect teenagers with residents.
Info for teens
Skokie teens may obtain information to participate in the program and complete a TeenLink Program application to be added to the program list. Participants must be a Skokie resident, a minimum of 13 years old and a maximum of 19 years old. Teens under the age of 18 will need a parent/guardian approval to participate.
The TeenLink program is a wonderful example of a community coming together to support one another. It provides a valuable service while strengthening the bonds between Skokie’s youth and their community.
