Last week, the Skokie Fire Department welcomed an updated vehicle back into its emergency response fleet! Ambulance 17, with a refurbished patient compartment and a new chassis, is now in service.
Using resources responsibly: The Skokie Village Board approved the refurbishment of Ambulance 17 and Ambulance 16 in July,
providing greatly expedited delivery of the vehicles and a total cost savings of $500,000 when compared to purchasing brand new vehicles.
Bolstering emergency response: Approximately 65 percent of the Skokie Fire Department’s 11,000 annual calls are to provide emergency medical services, and these refurbished vehicles will support the department's response.
