Government Buildings and Other Community Partners in Downtown Skokie

Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton Street, provides one stop shopping for residents looking to pay a water bill, purchase a vehicle sticker, apply for a building permit, apply for or renew a passport or take care of other business in person. Numerous Village services are available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at www.skokie.org and through the Village’s Access Skokie app.

The award-winning and newly upgraded Skokie Public Library offers weekly cultural and programming opportunities for more than 2,000 daily visitors.  Recent modern additions to the Library include a ‘makerspace’ for adults and teens, lab spaces for children, a new café with indoor/outdoor seating areas, and redesigned Business and Community Centers.  The Skokie Library was the first in the State of Illinois to be awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Services.

Oakton Community College’s Ray Hartstein campus, 7701 Lincoln Avenue, offers an educational center for both daytime and evening classes for both degree and certificate-seeking students as well as lifelong learning opportunities. See more information.

The Skokie Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 5002 Oakton Street, offers numerous events a year for members and the community, including the Taste of Skokie Valley during the summer, a state and federal legislative forum in the fall and a State of the Village with Mayor George Van Dusen in the spring.
