Program Goals
This program aims to beautify neighborhoods in Skokie one block at a time. Through this initiative, eligible blocks of homeowners can enhance and update their home or building and retain their long-standing investments within their community.
Program Details
This Village Board-approved pilot program supports affordable housing in Skokie. It is similar to the Home Improvement Program, but with a neighborhood focus. Homeowners will be contacted by Village staff to determine interest and eligibility in program participation.
Examples of exterior home enhancements may include the following:
- Energy-efficient windows and/or front door replacement
- Front door porch or awnings
- Front door lighting and address visibility
- Foundation landscaping with front yard seating area
- Tuckpointing (bring replacement/repair)
- Common area improvements
- Roof replacement or repair
