Ice Rescue Program

Program Details

Every two years the Skokie Fire Department conducts an ice rescue training for all fire department personnel at the Skokie Park District's Emily Oaks Nature Center. The training consists of an on-shore class session that covered all facets of:

  • Emergency Medical Considerations
  • Ice Rescue
  • Incident Management
  • Rescue Techniques
  • Scene Safety

Following the class all personnel rotate through a hands-on drill practicing each rescue procedure, including putting on the survival suits and getting in the 33 degree water to be rescuer as well as victim.
