Fine Arts Commission Grants

The Fine Arts Commission is happy to announce that, following a pandemic-related hiatus, the Village of Skokie has reinstated our Cultural Arts Grant programs for the 2024FY. 


Village of Skokie not-for profit arts organizations, non-art organizations which choose to sponsor non-religious public arts programming, and public and private schools are encouraged to apply now via the interactive online form.

Award Process

  • Grant applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
  • Commission reviews grant applications in early October 2023.
  • Award letters are distributed in late October 2023.
  • Grantees are required to submit a project grant evaluation upon completion of program.
  • Checks are distributed upon receipt of project grant evaluation.

Who May Apply

  • Public and private schools within the boundaries of the Village of Skokie who host professional visiting artists
  • Village of Skokie not-for-profit arts organizations
  • Village of Skokie non-art organizations which choose to sponsor arts programming that is of a non-religious nature and is open to the general public
  • Priority is placed on fine arts projects that are provided by minority-based groups or to under-served audiences of the Village of Skokie.
  • Governing bodies with taxing powers and/or organizations that currently receive funding through the Village's Grant Programming Budget are not eligible to apply.

Requirements

  • All grant applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
  • All proposed programs/projects must take place between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024.
  • Non-school organizations submitting the application must make a matching financial contribution of at least 25 percent of the cost of the project.
  • All applicants must comply with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and assure the Skokie Fine Arts Commission that no person will be excluded from participation or be denied on the basis of sex, race, sexual orientation, color, religion, ancestry, age, national origin or disability.
  • All project grant evaluations must be completed and returned before grant money is distributed.
