Boards & Commissions F - Z
Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Village Board of Trustees. Please consider this an invitation to participate in your local government by volunteering your time to help maintain this great community. Although acceptance of an appointment to a Commission requires a commitment on your part, you will find it rewarding and enriching as you become an integral part of Village government.

Fine Arts Commission
The Fine Arts Commission promotes interest in cultural and arts activities in the Village.

Human Relations Commission
The purpose of the commission is to encourage understanding and respect between residents of various racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds; to safeguard the rights of all citizens as defined by our ordinances, statutes and the constitution; and to promote the amicable settlement of disputes between neighbors.

Performing Arts Center Board
This nine-member board oversees operations and programming at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, 9501 Skokie Boulevard, that features fine arts programming for the entire community.

Plan Commission
The Plan Commission is an advisory body that reviews requests for Zoning Chapter text amendments, Zoning Map amendments, subdivisions, consolidations, public street and alley dedications and vacations, special use permits, site plan approval, and Comprehensive Plan amendments.

Public Arts Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Public Arts Advisory Committee (PAAC) is to integrate a wide range of public art into the community that reflects the diversity of the Village, various artistic disciplines and points of view.

Public Safety Commission
The Public Safety Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the Village Board regarding the improvement of general conditions of public safety in the community.

Sustainable Environmental Advisory Commission
The mission of the Skokie Sustainable Environmental Advisory Commission is to be a resource for the Mayor and Board of Trustees, informing them how their actions and policies may impact the Village of Skokie on an Environmental basis.

Telecommunications & Technology Commission
The Skokie Telecommunications and Technology Commission (STAT) advises the Village Board on matters pertaining to telecommunications and broader technology issues affecting the Skokie community.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is charged with hearing requests that do not meet certain Zoning Chapter requirements.
